What is a Tilt-Shift Lens?
At Worker Bee we do a lot of interior and architectural photography, and one of our most important (and favourite) tools is a tilt-shift lens. This odd lens is a must have for professional architectural photographers and we thought it would be fun to show you how it works and what makes it so special! Here are the photographs we captured in this video
This environmental portrait was captured using the tilt movement of the tilt-shift lens, allowing us to get the subject in focus while also getting some of the background in focus! This technique isn’t used very often for portraits but can create an interesting surreal effect.
For the architectural photograph of the iconic Ontario Place Pods we used the shift function to be able to get the entire building in the frame, something that wouldn’t be possible with a traditional lens. Getting these sort of unique angles and perspective is what gives professional architecture photos their distinct look and larger than life feel.
